for the most part has blown past that. we do not have rss feed demi moore. most of it is who lands here for what purpose? i get paid if you push the clique. i do not really care if you like what is there were not. i only care if you do what causes the monetary machine to turn over. that is just a different relationship with the consumer. and i think we are a culture that is more conservative about that. mark -- one of the great pioneers, but i think he has made no secret. that information is meant to be available to all people at all times. they are very comfortable with this very thin line. i understand the argument. but i do not know that that will comport with most people's views are not. >> michael brought up purchasing a little bit earlier and one of the hit shows is "downton abbey." if they want to purchase it on line with amazon or netflix, they can. you could do that with"homeland" or another one of these series. how is this ability to micro purchase going to affect the cable industry in the next few years? >> i'm not sure. when this first started, when i struck a deal with disn

rake, only on the money you make on the margin. stephen moore is here from the wall street journal and he's ready to jump out of his skin after i said that. he specializes in telling me why i'm wrong. and our other guest, david johnston wrote "the fine print." stephen, you are our resident anti-tax crusader. i totally agree every penny counts when it comes to your own money. when you compare the taxes most americans paid in past decades i don't get why republicans are screaming bloody murder about this. what would be so bad with the wealthiest among us chipping in a little bit more? i'm emphasizing just a little bit more. >> when you showed that chart of the tax rates that was exactly accurate. we had 70% tax rates in the '70s. that didn't turn out well. then we cut the rates significantly. went down to 50%, 28%. the rates went up to 35%. i would love to see you super impose on that chart the share of taxes paid by the rich. here is the interesting thing. >>> one of the reason the deficit went down is you had a big increase in the number of people making money. they paid more tax.

of mine, mr. joeie moore. not often i do these. i actually can't think of the last time i've done one of these outside of our typical rotations. but when i heard what joey did a month ago, it absolutely warranted this small token of our appreciation. it's not often that you hear about acts of heroism and courage and when you do it should be distinguished with a moment like this, not only to recognize his great work but also to encourage some of our other citizens to every now and then take action on the behalf of their fellow citizens. so i think it was november 8, november 9, evening, up in monterey heights, there was a fire in a home, single family home up there. as i understand it, joey was out walking his dog, and no one else saw the fire, no one else took notice of it, including the people who lived in the home. and he took it upon himself to knock on the door, yell and scream, get folks out, and then on top of that call 911, and then on top of that get some of the neighbors in the nearby houses. and this was a fire that ended up really blown up, not only the single family home t

solve our economic woes? let's ask mr. steven moore, writer for the with a wall street journal. i heard that quote and howard dean, dr. dean is one of the most liberal on the planet and saying, and i thought about that a little bit. does he mean everyone's taxes have to go up, including people who don't pay taxes now? >> a great question, because as you know, eric, about 40% of americans who file tax returns now don't pay any income tax, but i also saw that clip live when he said it and kind of mouth open, i was kind of shocked, but he's at least being an honest liberal here. one of the things about this fiscal cliff debate that bothers me, even if we raise taxes on the top two or three% and the president may reveil. then you go into 2013 and i heard the discussion on the debt which was fantastic. even if we do the tax increases on the rich they're not going to raise that much money and not that many people that make over 400 $500,000 a year and that means if the liberals want a fund these new programs and they want to bring this trillion dollar debt down. you know where they have to go
